A road accident that occurred this Sunday morning on the road that leads from the municipality of Ciénaga to the city of Barranquilla , left one person dead and another injured.

The spectacular accident was recorded on the Troncal del Caribe , at kilometer 33+550.

According to the official report, the fatal event occurred when the passengers of a motorcycle that was traveling in a caravan with other vehicles of similar characteristics, hit the side of a Toyota van that was parked on the shoulder of the busy road.

Due to the collision, the motorcycle -with its occupants on it- ended up crossing the path of a tractor -trailer that was traveling in the opposite direction of the road, so it ran over the two-wheeler.

The fatal victim was identified as Yair Junior Martínez Balaza, 22, originally from Barranquilla, whose body was destroyed by the passage of the heavy truck.

Minutes after the crash, the front end of the cargo vehicle was incinerated.

For his part, the injured subject, whose identity has not been established until the closing of the edition of this medium, was transferred to the Campbell Clinic in the capital of Atlántico.

It was established that the group of motorcycles would have left their city of origin to travel to the district of Río Frío , in the municipality of Zona Bananera, and enjoy a ride.

Officials from the Sijin Mobile Criminalistics Laboratory arrived at the site to carry out the urgent acts of technical inspection and subsequent removal of the body.
