The Merced County Sheriff’s Office have released bodycam video from a fatal OIS on April 29th involving a suspect armed with a rifle. One deputy was shot in an exchange of gunfire that resulted in the suspect being killed.
According to Sheriff Vern Warnke, deputies were attempting to stop a pick-up truck at 1:20 p.m. but the suspect took off -- leading deputies on a short chase.
The sheriff said the suspect got out of his truck and ran.
The deputy started chasing the suspect. During that time, officials said the deputy and the suspect exchanged gunfire. Both were struck.
