The incident occurred on September 10, 2025, at 11:52 AM, when Mr. Prasert Praprohm, 56, the Head of Construction for the Don Kaeo Municipality Public Works Department, was buried in a landslide. At the time, he was inspecting a drainage pipe under a road in the Huai Tueng Thao project area. Heavy rainfall had caused water leakage, which created a cavity, leading to the road collapsing. As he was inspecting the pipe, the ground gave way, burying him.
Rescue workers rushed to remove the soil and, after about 20 minutes, were able to free him and transport him to Nakornping Hospital. Unfortunately, Mr. Prasert passed away this morning. The landslide had caused a ruptured intestine, multiple fractures throughout his body, and his ribs had punctured his lungs and spleen, leading to his death.
Mr. Palakorn Kantawang, the Mayor of Don Kaeo Municipality, stated that the incident occurred after residents of Huai Tueng Thao village reported that the road had subsided due to the effects of Tropical Storm Kajiki. A team from the Public Works Department was dispatched to inspect and repair the damage. The deceased was part of this team and was inspecting the underground pipe when the landslide occurred.
The municipality has affirmed its full support and will provide assistance to the victim's family. The incident has deeply saddened everyone, as the deceased was known for being a diligent and hardworking individual who was beloved by all his colleagues. Following the event, all staff have been instructed to work with increased caution.
The Don Kaeo Municipality will provide assistance to the victim's family according to their rights and welfare benefits, including benefits from the Social Security Fund.
