A Metroplús bus struck a homeless person in Medellín, triggering a violent reaction in the La Minorista neighborhood of downtown. The driver was nearly lynched by passersby and homeless people amid the chaos that followed the tragic accident.

The incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. on Monday, on 55th Street and 57th Street, one of the busiest areas in the capital of Antioquia.

The accident, which occurred at the La Minorista roundabout, involved a homeless man who attempted to cross the exclusive lane designated for Metroplús articulated buses. At that moment, the bus struck him, leaving the pedestrian seriously injured in the street.

The rapid response from emergency services allowed the injured man to be transferred to the CES Clinic, located in the city's downtown area, but despite the efforts of the medical staff, he died shortly after arrival.

Following the accident, several homeless people in the area attacked the bus with rocks and all kinds of objects. They attempted to attack the driver, who decided to drive in the reserved lane to protect himself and his passengers. Only upon reaching Industriales station, already out of the reach of the crowd, did the driver stop and wait for the arrival of officers from the Medellín Department of Mobility and the police.
