Melvin Harris III, 40, was arrested and faces second-degree murder charges after beating a man who died days later as a result of his injuries. A man who tried to enter the bathroom where his 16-year-old daughter was at a gas station in Phoenix, Arizona, authorities reported.

Melvin Harris III went to pick up his teenage daughter and her two friends at a QT store shortly after 11:30 p.m. on August 2, 2018, according to court documents.
Harris was waiting in the parking lot when a man approached him and asked him for money. Harris gave him some change and the man entered the store.
When Harris' daughter and her friends left the store shortly after, they told Harris that a man had tried to enter the bathroom where she was. A security guard escorted the man out of the store.
Police identified him as Leon Armstrong, 26.

The report states that when Armstrong left, the daughter told her father that he was the man who had tried to enter the bathroom. Harris entered the QT and told a security guard that they needed to take care of the situation or he would do it himself.
The security guard told Harris he would take care of it, but Harris got into his car and drove to an area where Armstrong was located. Witnesses testified that he approached Armstrong and punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground. He then continued to punch him in the face and kick him, according to records. After the incident, Harris got into his car and drove home.
