A driver was killed Monday afternoon after a vehicle traveling at high speed overturned on the westbound 210 Freeway, just west of Riverside Avenue in Rialto, authorities said.
The crash was reported on Nov. 3rd just after 4:15 p.m., when witnesses told the California Highway Patrol that a vehicle had been traveling at high speeds before flipping and landing on its roof in the carpool and fast lanes.
Responding officers found the vehicle overturned and blocking multiple lanes. All westbound lanes were temporarily stopped as emergency crews arrived and later closed while investigators examined the scene.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department coroner was called to the site at about 4:26 p.m. The driver, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash also damaged a two-inch pipe, causing flooding along the freeway embankment and prompting crews to shut down the water line.
A SigAlert was issued, diverting all traffic off the freeway at Riverside Avenue for several hours while CHP investigators worked to determine the cause of the crash.
The collision remains under investigation.
