Members of the Mexican Navy neutralized a man who threatened them with a firearm at the entrance to their facilities in Puerto Vallarta.

The incident occurred just outside the Twelfth Naval Zone, located on Francisco Medina Ascencio Avenue, where an unknown civilian arrived requesting information and unexpectedly pulled out what appeared to be a firearm, threatening naval personnel.

The Mexican Navy reported that established security protocols were activated, “deploying personnel from the Immediate Reaction Force to protect the facilities and safeguard the well-being of the individual, naval personnel, and the public.”

The federal agency reported that after repeated instructions for him to de-escalate the situation and surrender the weapon, “the civilian continued his aggressive behavior, so the personnel acted in accordance with the Manual on the Use of Force, applying graduated measures until they achieved control through incapacitating shots.”

Once the situation was under control, the individual received medical assistance from naval medical personnel and was taken to a hospital for treatment, where he was placed under arrest.

The Attorney General's Office was subsequently notified to open the corresponding investigation.
