Description
A man was shot dead by a police officer for holding a passerby with a knife in Tuen Mun last night. DON DON, a 34-year-old man with a gang background and a drug record DONKI Food Department kitchen took a knife, then swung a knife outside the mall, police officers arrived at the scene, with pepper water to arrest the suspect failed, the suspect rushed into the mall, passers-by scrambled to avoid, during which a woman was pulled by the suspect pulled a shoulder bag Police said the decision to shoot absolutely met the requirements for the use of firearms, and the officers had no choice to save the lives of the female passers-by who were held hostage.

Shops take knives waving outside the shopping mall

Pepper water uniforms can't help rush passers-by
Senior Superintendent Li-wai Chung of the Criminal Department of the Northern New Territories Headquarters said that at about 7.10pm yesterday, police received a report that a suspicious man had taken a knife from a shop in Tuen Mun City Plaza. Officers from the Northern New Territories Stormtroopers arrived at the scene and found the man involved in the case on Tuen Wai Street. He was brandishing a 12-inch long knife, causing panic among passers-by. Police gave the man a verbal warning to no avail and fired a shot of pepper. The man then entered the Tuen Mun City Plaza, held a woman hostage as he stepped out from another exit, and raised a knife in an attempt to attack. Another verbal warning was ineffective. Two rushers fired one shot each. The man was shot and fell to the ground. Police immediately subdued him and rescued the female passerby.

He has a gang background and a criminal record for hiding drugs

The 34-year-old man was unconscious after being shot. He was taken to Tuen Mun Hospital by ambulance and died at 8.40pm. The woman who was held hostage at one point suffered abrasions and was taken to hospital by ambulance. The police found drugs and a telescopic stick in the suspect's crossbody bag. Police reviewed records and found that the suspect held a Hong Kong ID card and had a triad background and a criminal record, including a drug-related record. After reviewing the CCTV footage, it is believed that he has no accomplices. Police do not rule out that he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crime, while whether he has mental problems and the actual motive for committing the crime is pending. The case was classified as possession of an offensive weapon and trafficking in dangerous drugs and handed over to the Northern New Territories Serious Crimes Unit 2 for follow-up.

The suspect was shot in the chest and right shoulder, doctors found a warhead in his body, and officers found a bullet hole and two shell casings on the exterior wall of a shop at the scene, Chung said. Asked whether a shot in the chest was fatal, Chung said it was pending forensic examination.

According to the guidelines, if a police officer fires at a suspect, he should shoot at the largest area of the other person's body. Asked whether shooting at the chest and shoulder complied with the guidelines, Deputy Commander Wong Ho-han reiterated that each use of a firearm is a very difficult decision for every police officer. The police force has strict guidelines and training on the use of firearms. A knife, a large pool of blood, suspected bullet casings, and gloves were left underground.

According to online footage, the man in white, who had a backpack and several bags, was wandering and brandishing a knife outside the Tuen Mun City Plaza yesterday evening, scattering the public. When a large crowd of citizens fled from the mall, a woman was pulled down by a man, who pressed the woman's neck with his left hand and a knife in his right hand. Three officers pointed their guns at the man. After the incident, an officer asked "who fired the shot," and a vested officer raised his hand.
