A retired professor became the victim of a brutally cruel crime in the town of Huimanguillo, in the state of Tabasco, Mexico. He was kidnapped by criminals who had rented one of his properties and was held captive while they tried to extort money from his family.
The kidnapping happened in early January, and the criminals demanded a ransom of two million pesos. Although part of the money was paid, the victim was never released.
Investigators say the professor was severely beaten and tortured. A video seized by the authorities shows him covered in blood, with serious knife wounds, especially in his abdomen. Despite being badly injured, he was still alive when the criminals threw him into an open grave in a rural area and buried him with soil, causing a slow and painful death.
On January 7, police arrested several members of the criminal group during an operation in the Río Seco and Montaña regions. The suspects were caught transporting weapons and drugs. A few days later, the professor’s remains were found beside a rural road.
The case is being investigated as aggravated kidnapping and murder, marked by extreme violence and the victim’s complete inability to defend himself. The crime shocked the community and authorities are still working to identify everyone involved.
