A 32-year-old man died after a pipe hit him while he was working, in Guarujá , on the coast of São Paulo, this Thursday (7). As informed by the Civil Police, the accident took place in a shipyard located on Rua Joel Nascimento dos Santos, in the Jardim Santa Maria neighborhood.

According to the Military Police, in the record of the occurrence, the pipe that reached the victim measured about 10 meters. According to the worker's family, he acted as a driver on site. However, in the incident report, other workers reported that he was performing the role of a flag-bearer at the time of the accident.

To the police, an outsourced crane operator informed that, for him to work, he needs the signalman, who indicates how much the crane should go up or down, and its direction. According to him, the signalman [victim] gave a wrong signal, because he ordered to descend more than he should. With that wrong indication, the pipeline ended up on him.

One of the company's partners told the authorities that he was not at the scene of the accident, and that he was having lunch when he learned of the incident. He claimed that he knew that the victim had accessed a prohibited place, and had given a wrong command to the crane operator, which would have caused the accident.
